WHITLEY GREEN AND WHITLEY COMMUNITY CHURCH
FREE FUN DAY 2007
Saturday June 2nd dawned bright clear sunny and warm, after the
rain we had had in the week, we were wondering if the green was going to be
firm enough to let us hold all the activities and events planned.
It was a really successful day, estimated about 500 people turned up to join
in all the family fun.
Bouncy Castles, tug o war, egg and spoon race for the kids, wind tunnel,
bar-b-que, and much more.
A very large marquee was put up on the green, and all the riggers were given a
breakfast of hot bacon and sausage butties, for the 2 hour job of raising the marquee.
The event opened at 12 noon and went on until 5pm and live music entertained people all day.
6.10pm saw the evening event which was organised by Whitley Community Church and
a family quiz night took place, it was really good fun, there was plenty to eat
throughout the whole event, and we were very pleased with the turn out from
local residents. It was good to do a free event for the local community and we
hope everyone enjoyed the day.
Our thanks goes to Keith Dolding Pastor from the Whitley Community Church and
his hard working members for working alongside us and making it an event to remember.
We ended the day totally exhausted but satisfied that it was a really great day.
Careen Kenning.
