The weather could not dampen the spirit of the Whitley people on Saturday 13th August at their Fun Day. We had just set everything up when the heavens opened and it poured for the next few hours. However, this did not stop the children from enjoying the bouncy castle, the ball clowns, throwing the "wellie", face painting and tug o war. Ray and John from Whitley Community Church kept the bar- b- que going all afternoon despite the weather, and sausages and burgers went down a treat, with tea and coffee to keep everyone happy, many thanks to all the helpers from Whitley Green and Whitley Community Church. Keith from the Church was pleased with the day, and we hope to do another event next year, when we hope the weather will be kinder, but it does show, that despite the down pour the Community Spirit is alive and well in "good old Whitley".
